New operator of the World Scout Shop
Dear Friends,
Following an international call to tender for the international licence of World Scout brands (Circular N°35/2010), the World Scout Committee has decided to grant to Scout Shops Limited (SSL) – which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Scout Association of the United Kingdom – the international licence contract for the production and distribution of tie-in products from World Scout brands and the operation of the online sales site for the Official World Scout Shop.
SSL traces its origins back to 1917 and the first Scout Shop in London; however the business has continually evolved to meet the needs of modern day Scouting. Today SSL provides a professional and cost effective sourcing, storage and distribution service for all tangible Scout merchandise in the United Kingdom. SSL is a stable, efficient and well managed operation which successfully offers products that Scouts want and knows how to market and sell them. As a result of their close links to The Scout Association they also have an intimate knowledge of Scouting. All SSL company profits are returned annually to The Scout Association.
In the process of this transition, Scout Resources International LLC (SCORE International), the company which has been operating the World Scout Shop in Annecy, France, has been closed down. As a consequence, while every effort will be made to facilitate the change-over, it is possible that there may be some difficulties in filling orders which have been placed with SCORE. If any such problems arise, please contact the World Scout Bureau at changescore@scout.org so that we may help find remedies.
We have great confidence in SSL as the new operators of the World Scout Shop as well as their ability to provide quality official and branded products and meet the needs of our valued members. Their well managed operation and strong growth and performance over the last few years are a testimony to this. We therefore look forward to a bright future of the new World Scout Shop.
